The Susquehanna is the East Coast's longest river and this section, just below the Conowingo Dam, is the best spot east of the Mississippi for seeing the national symbol in its natural habitat. Dozens of bald eagles make their permanent home in Susquehanna State Park and the surrounding environs, building nests that weigh more than 1,000.

Trick Falls sometimes has two cascades—one flowing right over the other, sometimes even hiding the lower fall completely. Other times, it looks as if one waterfall flows directly out.

Built in 1928 and now owned by Constellation Energy, the Conowingo Dam spans the Susquehanna River, 12 miles south of Chester County's southwest tip. Jul 2022. The Eagle Falls trail is a short, but steep and spectacular waterfall trail. It is adjacent to Emerald Bay State Park, but the waterfall trail is part of the National Forest Service, and so access is free unlike the California State Park. There are three parking areas, but each has only limited spaces, so come early or late!
