The W49 Bowie was the largest knife Western ever made. The 48A was 3rd from the smallest, with the 28/48C and 48B patterns being smaller. The "C" in the 3rd line indicates that your knife was made in 1979. The S-H48A was initially produced in 1978. The "S" indicates stainless steel was used for the blade.
