The Clem, if you're unfamiliar with it, is Rivendell's complete out-of-the-box bike, and while it's not fully lugged the frame does have some fancy action going on at the seat cluster: And the head tube: And the fork crown: It also has wheels with festive nipples, which is my new favorite phrase: [Festive nipples!]

Previously I rode a Rivendell Clem Smith Jr "H" in the 52cm size for about 3 years from November 2015 until August 2018. I have a pubic bone height of about 81cm or so, which per every Riv catalog really says the 52cm is the target size for me, I am pushing the very limits of what they'd recommend for the 45cm.

Clem Smith Jr. is Rivendell's fat-tire, easy to fender & rack, joyously upright and stable, and more affordable than the rest of our lineup bicycle frame. They're more affordable only because most of the joints are tig-welded instead of lugged. Tigs cut the construction time for each frame down by a lot so the price gets lower.

Ride is sublime with the uber long chainstays. It's fantastic on trails. And the ride to and from the trailhead.

The Clem Smith Jr. is intended to do a lot and take a lot. The decal on the down tube makes this point in an elegant manner. The Rivendell Silver2 crankset is biased in favor of low gears. The chain rings are 32/22. The Alivio derailleur is low on Shimano's totem pole of components but works well nonetheless.
