Step 1: Measure the size of your bay window and decide how large you would like your bench to be. Once you have that measurement, acquire the necessary tools and supplies, such as a saw, drill, screws, wood, and finish. Step 2: Build a basic frame around the perimeter of the bay window and make sure that it is securely attached to the window.

Attach the framing to the floor with screws or framing nails. Toenail (nail in at a 45 degree angle) the ends of the framing into the wall. Attach 2×4 studs to the back of the bay window. Make sure that they are level with the framing wall. Measure the distance between the front of the framing wall and the back wall.

Measure the distance between the top and bottom and cut a 2″ x 4″ to that size. Drill two pocket holes on each end of the board. Secure in place with 2.5″ pocket hole screws. Then find and mark the mid-point between the center piece you just attached and each side of the bench.
