Wong Kei Chinatown Review… The rudeness was part of the romance GRUBSTANCE

Wong Kei is one of those places that everyone seems to know about, and always with a knowing giggle and grin. I have been going there since 1988 and never tire of the atmosphere and the food. Initially it was famed for being that place where the waiters were rude and you were shoved onto tables with strangers. This really is not true.

Delivery & Pickup Options - 4 reviews of Wong Kei "I adore Wong Kei's and always head for it if we are in London, or just come down purely to eat there. The restaurant was recommended to me some time ago & I was glad I listened. Had I been just mooching around Chinatown I admit I probably wont have chosen this restaurant. Very good value for money, last time it cost us £34 for a family of 4.

In the heart of Chinatown, Wong Kei once earned the title of 'London's rudest restaurant' (Image: MyLondon) It's worth noting I did not have high hopes, reviews from recent months still nodded to rudeness, with one diner saying they'd been told to "shut up".

January 19, 2022 Wong Kei is one of London's great time capsules. A reminder that cash can still be king and that great service does not always need a smile. An always-welcome restaurant for the solo diner wanting to slurp on wonton noodle soup, Wong Kei's downstairs canteen is Chinatown's great sanctuary.
