Some items had only one basic mould and others, such as the textured items, had moulds with several different designs. With the textured pots, the decorators were given a free hand to modify them as they wished as long as certain colour combinations were used.

Linda Taylor was a Troika pottery decorator in Newlyn from late 1960's to early 1970's. Her monogram is LT with the usual Troika Cornwall mark. This is a good example of an Early Scratched Troika Mark. Mark is found from a Troika Fruit Bowl without Fruit piece which is listed on the site.

Troika Pottery was founded in 1963 by painter Lesley Illsley, potter Benny Sirota and architect Jan Thompson at Wheal Dream, St. Ives, Cornwall. Mark used c. 1910 to 1915 by Fulper Pottery Co. This was the first mark—FULPER in a rectangle—used by this company using the Hobo typeface. It is commonly referenced by collectors and dealers as the Fulper "ink mark.". Fake ink marks have been found drawn with a black marker on pieces not made by this company.

Troika Pottery was established, in Cornwall, by Leslie Illsey, Jan Thompson and Benny Sirota in 1963. The trading name came from the Russian word meaning set of three. It was chosen by Benny Sirota whose grandfather had escaped from Russia on a sledge drawn by three horses - a Troika. With three co-founders, Troika seemed perfectly.
