Taking place over the weekend of the 12th - 14th May 2023 is the St Ives Food and Drink festival which is just as it's name suggests - a place to explore and enjoy a lot of local.

Bolster day is an annual festival held at Chapel Porth cove near St Agnes, Cornwall, UK. The festival is held on the Sunday before the early Spring Bank Holiday in May every year and reenacts the events of the Cornish legend of Bolster the giant [1] and Saint Agnes with use of giant puppets and local performers.

In 2024 it should be on Sunday 5th May. All are welcome free of charge at this family-friendly festival. The best place to watch the performance is by the Beacon off the cliff path above Chapel Porth where you'll see banners and bunting ready on the day.

The town of St Agnes runs a vibrant and lively calendar of events throughout the year. Each May, the locals come together to celebrate Bolster Day, a festival which features an array of dance performances, music entertainment and giant puppets. The festival reenacts the events of Bolster, a legendary Cornish giant who was said to once live near.

The festival has been planned to coincide with the St Agnes Bolster Festival - a Cornish cultural celebration featuring life size puppets, a drum band and a giant effigy of 'Bolster', a marauding giant of Cornish folklore, whose welcome demise is marked by the parade. Perfect opportunity for a well-timed pint of Bolster's Blood!

Each early May Bank Bank Holiday weekend the Bolster Festival Pageant takes place in St Agnes. It tells the tale of the Giant Bolster (one of many Cornish Giants) who ravaged the area and terrified the locals. The story goes like this…. Bolster had a long-suffering wife who he made carry rocks in her apron to the top of the cliffs at Chapel.
