Morskie Oko, or Eye of the Sea in English, is the largest and fourth-deepest lake in the Tatra Mountains, in southern Poland.. In winter, a short section of the journey is in an avalanche danger zone, and the area can remain cold and rainy even in summer. In the advent of its popularity, visitors have been forbidden from swimming.

Morskie Oko, also known as „ Rybi Staw " (Fish Pond), is the largest and most beautiful lake in the Polish Tatras. It lies at an altitude of 1395 meters above sea level and is surrounded on three sides by forests, Tatra peaks and rocks. The lake was formed millions of years ago when glaciers carved out a large rock bowl.

In the winter it is completely frozen. You can walk across the lake like many do who venture to Black Lake (Czarny Staw) or into the higher mountains. It snowed the day before our hike, the views we encountered during our hike were picturesque. The hike to Morskie Oko is 8.5 km.
