Corgi has launched two commemorative Aston Martin DB5 models to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of their Goldfinger scale model.In 1965 (one year after the movie Goldfinger was released) Corgi started production of the Goldfinger James Bond Aston Martin DB5, and won the first Toy of the Year for the model.

The Corgi brand, named after the Welsh dog, was introduced by the Mettoy Company in 1956. The first launch of toy saloon cars included the Ford Consul and Austin Cambridge, but it was James Bond's DB5, with its ejector seat and front-mounted machine guns, that put Corgi on the map.

Corgi produced a 1:46 replica of the Aston Martin DB5 which measured 4 inches long and came with a number of extra features. The car came with hidden machine guns at the front, which extended when you pressed a small button to the left side of the car. Pressing the twin-exhaust pipes raised a bulletproof shield from the boot.
