Clapham Common Management Advisory Committee (CCMAC) is pleased to announce the programme of free concerts on the Bandstand this summer. The line up offers a diverse mix of musical styles celebrating the community in which we live with something for everyone, ranging.

The Clapham Common bandstand for example, built in 1889 after the locals petitioned the London County Council. It cost £600 to erect and, twice a week - Wednesday afternoons and Sundays - one could stroll over to the common and hear a concert, presumably for free.

Clapham Common Bandstand faithfuls returning include South London Concert Band , Junction Jazz , The Crooks Saxes , Lambeth Wind Orchestra , Graham Pike Big Band , Putney & Wimbledon Brass Band and Crystal Palace Band. Concerts are guaranteed free to all with a grant funded by Lambeth Council. All concerts start at 2pm and end at 4pm.

Clapham Common is managed by the London Borough of Lambeth, although its ownership is split between Lambeth and Wandsworth.. The Bandstand, built in 1890, was regularly used for open air concerts. In 2003 the FCC and Clapham Society worked in partnership with Lambeth Council on a major fundraising and restoration project.

Summer concerts return to the Clapham Common Bandstand this weekend with a varied programme of music for the community to enjoy. From Saturday (June 10) until Saturday (July 29), the bandstand will stage performers of all music genres, from classical, pop, and rock, to Afro-Cuban, hip hop and funk.
