The British flag for the American colonies was the Grand Union Flag, also known as the Congress flag, the First Navy Ensign, the Cambridge Flag, and the Continental Colors. It consisted of 13 red and white stripes, similar to the current U.S. flag, representing the Thirteen Colonies.
