Canadian actress Margot Kidder began acting in the late 1960s, but her rise to fame skyrocketed when she appeared as Lois Lane in Superman: The Movie in 1978, opposite Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent. She and Reeve developed a close friendship until his death in 2004, with Kidder going on to reprise the part in the movie's three sequels.
