Though Aske is certainly not a bad black metal record, the riffs and vocals especially stand out as very good, it is rather mediocre coming from a band as respected and highly regarded as Burzum. "Aske" (Ashes) is an EP that lives in infamy within the Norwegian black metal scene. The cover art for this ep specifically shows the remnants of the Fantoft church in Bergen, Norway after Varg Vikernes burned it to the ground. While he was never convicted for this arson there's clear evidence that proves he did set fire to it.

Review The cover is a photograph of the Fantoft Stave Church after its arson on 6 June 1992. Varg Vikernes was a suspect of burning the church, and the photograph is believed to have been taken by Vikernes himself.
