The Praktica PL Nova I B is designed for 35mm films. 35mm films are still produced today. They can be developed in most photo laboratories. A good choice for color photography is the Fujifilm Superia 200 *. If you want to stay monochrome, the Ilford XP2 Super * is not bad. The color film is processed in the C-41 development process.

A few notes: 1) The screws securing the top cover have a narrow slotted head and take a fine slotted screwdriver. 2) The covers for the shutter speed dial and film advance lever are glued on. A drop of naphtha will help loosen them. 3) Eyepiece can be disassembled to clean haze.

The Nova B, of course, is a dated design with dated features. The shutter speed dial is a trip but easy enough once the operator figures it out. Speeds are from 1/2 sec. to 1/500 and B. The other peculiar thing is having to hold the shutter release fully depressed until the exposure is complete.
