Before that - and ahead of his Yardbirds years - he packed a whole lotta rocking in his more anonymous guise of super session guitarist on London's buzzing 60s studio circuit. His skills on predominantly a 1960 Gibson Les Paul Custom and a Danelectro 3021 can.

In the Led Zeppelin Earls Court performance in 1975 video you'll see that Jimmy Page plays a 1959 Danelectro on the song "In My Time of Dying". This is kind of rare because Page is known for his love of Gibson guitars and particularly the Les Paul. But this song has all kinds of slide work, and the ringing twangy sound of the Danelectro.
This funky Danelectro reissue is based on the classic 1959 Shorthorn model, complete with the
Jimmy Page's 1961 Danelectro 3021 guitar. Mr. Page's arsenal of guitars could very well be the most impressive in rock. His astonishing instrument vault, which was briefly witnessed in the rock documentary, 'It Might Get Loud' is stacked with 'Telecasters', 'Stratocasters', acoustic guitars and of course 'Les Paul's'.

It is not known exactly when Jimmy Page started to use the 3021 Danelectro but it seems that it was in 1961. The first picture of him with the guitar is seen in a study session in 1965. In the White Summer studio he had been registered with the Gibson J-200 Flattop, while he used the Danelectro in 1967 on the stage of White Summer.

Specs The guitar was made in 1961 and it features a black finish on a semi-hollow body with a poplar center and a masonite top, back, and sides. It has two Lipstick single-coil pickups with Alnico magnets. At some point in the 80s, Jimmy replaced the original bridge with a Quan Badass Bridge. Read next:
