I consider myself a huge E36 fanboy and own a 98 M3. But today I learned something new. For the last 20 ish years I thought that Techno Violet only came on the 95, and the Daytona Violet came on the 1996-1999. This means my all-time favorite BMW color is in fact, Daytona Violet. I feel like my world has turned upside down.

Daytona Violet can look almost black at some angles. The E36 M3 has many BMW enthusiasts and is considered one of the best handling cars of its time. It has power 3.2L straight-6 makes 240hp and is still a very popular chassis to use on the track, and its motor S50. All E36 M3s also have a BMW M-tuned chassis and unique cosmetic items both.

As a reminder, BMW made the e36 M3 in Daytona Violet for 1 year only in the US, 1995 with the S50 OBD-I engine. From 1996-1999 it was sold in Techno Violet with the S52 OBD-II engine. The S50 and S52 produced the same amount of peak power. However, the S52 was the beginning of BMWs now standard "plateau" torque curve, where it produced peak.
