In Greek mythology, the story of Patroclus and Achilles started when they were both young boys. Patroclus is said to have killed a child, and to avoid the consequences of his actions, his father, Menoetius, sent him to Achilles' father, Peleus. This is in the hope that Patroclus will be able to start a new life.
