Station Groenlo

Lichtenvoorde-Groenlo is a railway station for Lichtenvoorde and Groenlo. The station opened on 24 June 1878 and is located on the Zutphen-Winterswijk railway. The services are operated by Arriva. Even though the station name refers to the villages of Lichtenvoorde and Groenlo, the actual station location is in Lievelde.

Het station. Station Lichtenvoorde-Groenlo ligt op de lijn Zutphen - Winterswijk en werd in 1878 in gebruik genomen. Beiden dorpen wilden graag een station, maar er werd besloten om de verbinding tussen Winterswijk en Ruurlo in één rechte lijn te maken en zodoende geen station te maken in één van beide dorpen, maar in Lievelde wat toch op de route lag.

Dit station is het resultaat van de alom beruchte strijd tussen de plaatsen Groenlo en Lichtenvoorde. In de stad Groenlo dacht men dat de NWS de spoorlijn Zutphen-Winterswijk wel vlak langs de vesting zou leggen. Maar het dorp Lichtenvoorde kocht voor fl. 50.000,- aan NWS-aandelen, in die tijd een heel bedrag.

Station Lichtenvoorde-Groenlo is een spoorwegstation, gelegen tussen Groenlo en Lichtenvoorde in het dorp Lievelde aan de spoorlijn Zutphen - Winterswijk. Het station werd geopend op 24 juni 1878. Zowel Groenlo als Lichtenvoorde hebben getracht het station te verkrijgen. Beide plaatsen grepen echter naast een treinstation bij de eigen kern.
