Commando Memorial The Commando Memorial is a Category A listed monument in Lochaber, Scotland, dedicated to the men of the original British Commando Forces raised during World War II. The site commands a wonderful view. It is situated at the junction of the Gairlochy Road, and the main Inverness to Fort William, about three quarters of a mile from Spean bridge, at the top of the hill. The Memorial was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother on Saturday 27th September 1952.

The commando memorial stands on the west side of the A82. It is just to the northwest of the small village of Spean Bridge. The largest settlement is Fort William to the south west. From Inverness, travel south along the A82 on the west side of Loch Ness. Stop off at Laggan Locks for a break if you need it.

The main A82 departs Spean Bridge in the direction of Inverness by first climbing up the side of Glen Spean. As the road leaves the glen it turns to head north, and as it does so, it passes the Commando Memorial on the left. Access to the car park is a short distance along the B8004.
