Scouting Kon-Tiki bestaat al ruim 70 jaar aan de Schokkerkade 1 in Haarlem-Noord. Met verschillende speltakken zeilen wij van april tot november op het Spaarne, de Mooie Nel en andere plassen en meren in de omgeving van Haarlem en beleven wij avonturen op het water en aan land.

Kon Tiki was an old name for the Sun God and Heyerdahl named the raft after Kon-Tiki. Each year scouts hold a competition at the Sea Scout base at Zandvlei. Scouts are required to construct a raft along strict guidelines and a team of 6 scouts spends 24 hours on the raft. The competition is a test of pioneering skills and is the most fun.

This was the theme selected for the Gauteng Region's 35th annual Kon-tiki raft-building Competition. Held each year at the Arrowe Park Scout Camp on the edge of Homestead Lake in Benoni, this year's edition attracted entries from some 60 Scout Groups from all over the Gauteng province. Approximately 1000 Scouts participated in the event.

Once you start down the path of Kon-Tiki, forever will it dominate your destiny! From the 8 th to the 10 th of March the Cape Town Kon-Tiki managed to unite thousands of children, youths and adults from around the peninsula at the Zandvlei Sea Scout Base.. For the 39th time, teens under 18 years old competed to build a raft, launch it on the water, and live on it for 24 hours!
