They have maintained the raw stone walls and old pub features, but added the 'in' floral wallpaper and new light fittings. It's brighter and feels more welcoming. The place was packed when we went there, we were lucky to.

No.1 High Street was the original gathering place for famous Edinburgh Cape Society, founded in the 1700s and formally constituted till 1764. Pub grub served daily noon to 9.30pm and Friday Saturday until 10pm. The figurehead above the pub entrance is of a member of the Royal Company of Archers, the monarch's ceremonial bodyguard in Scotland, with his traditional green uniform on and a long bow in hand.
