Iedereen waarschuwde ons, voor de drukt bij de gotthardtunnel. We moesten een camping zoeken net voor de tunnel en dan daar dan overnachten. En dan 's ochtends heel vroeg , 6-7u richting de tunnel rijden zodat we geen of weinig file hebben. Nu waren we zelf op het idee gekomen om door te rijden , en die dag nog de gotthardtunnel door te rijden.

Iemand een goede tip voor een camping of camperplek niet al te ver na de Gotthard tunnel? Uiteraard hebben we zelf al enkele plekken opgezocht maar echte ervaringen zijn altijd beter dan een plaatje of alleen een POI in de TomTom

Wij reden altijd op zondag door tot net na de Gotthard. Naam van de camping: Bosco di Molinazzo. 6517 Canton of Bellinzona, Zwitserland. Eenvoudig, ruime plaatsen en 900 km vanaf Apeldoorn. Nooit problemen gehad bij de Gotthard. Eerder ook wel gestopt bij een camping net voor de Zwitserse grens: Camping Lörrach / bei Basel.

Camping Gottardo. Deze doortrekcamping bij Gotthard beschikt over een uitstekend restaurant en vormt een prima uitgangspunt voor excursies. De kleine camping ligt gunstig als doorgangscamping voor of na de Gotthard Tunnel / Pas. De eigenaar ziet graag geen aankomsten na 18:00 uur in verband met drukke werkzaamheden in het familierestaurant.

There is a nice small site on Lake Sachseln (camping Ewil) about CHF 26 a night and an ACSI site (if you're using an ACSI card) at Lungern, Camping Obsee at Euro 20 plus taxes. Both in beautiful areas. If you go to Camping Ewil don't park down by the railway unless you want to be woken up at 0600 by the first train!

There is a free aire on the top of the Gotthard Pass, CamperContact #45331. There are a couple of aires and a campsite around Andermatt, also shown in CamperContact. Swiss Campsites will be expensive so best avoided! If you don't have it download the CamperContact app and use it for finding locations.

As a rough guide, allow 15 minutes to transit the St Gotthard road tunnel and one hour to use the St Gotthard Pass, so an increase to the journey time of 45 minutes or so. The map above shows the route of the St Gotthard Pass. We travelled the route from North to South and the ascent was a lot less complex than the descent.
