What is being touted as the "DARKEST ARDBEG EVER" is a 46.5% ABV, non-chill filtered, NAS release consisting of whisky aged primarily in ex-bourbon casks, the 'heart' of which has been aged in 'dark sherry' casks. A little vague, but perhaps that lends to the air of mystery surrounding the occasion.

The sherry influence in the Ardbeg Dark Cove is light, but I did get some of those dark earthy and nutty notes which are typical with sherried whiskies so the influence is there, but not in a "Oh look, sherry" kind of way.
