Relax on the beach Levanto is on the coast and has a nice, reasonably large pleasant beach, with nice cafes and pretty views. The beach is dark in color and a mix of sand and pebbles, which is typical of this area of Italy, but it is well equipped, popular and very pleasant.

Levanto is a famous seaside resort along the Italian Riviera, 80 km east of Genoa. This town is the perfect starting-point for visiting the picturesque villages of Cinque Terre. From Levanto you can easily reach the five villages by train in only 10 minutes, by boat or by foot through guided tracks.

The Levanto beach is located near the centre of the town and, unlike most Ligurian beaches, is very large and sandy. Perfect, therefore, for spending relaxing days with children also thanks to the shallow waters. There are both free beach and beach resorts where you can rent sunbeds, beach umbrellas, pedalos and canoes.

3. Find secluded beaches along Levanto-Bonassola-Framura cycle and pedestrian path. What used to be railroad tunnels between Levanto, Bonassola, and Framura, have been restored to create a flat and scenic 3.7-mi (6-km) bicycle and pedestrian path that connects the three towns in Cinque Terre.

Built in 2005 in place of the old disused railway site, it connects Levanto to Bonassola and Framura for about 6km in length within the old train tunnels. Soon, with works already approved, it will be extended on the opposite side going to reach Monterosso, and therefore directly connecting Levanto with the Cinque Terre on two wheels.

Levanto Beach. Levanto is the next town up from Monterosso,. From the pictures above you'll see that for first-timers to Italy, the beaches can seem extremely crowded. And whilst there are beautiful swimming spots all along the Italian Riviera, there are limited ways to get there, and accommodation can be hard to find if not.

This route passes through the restored old railway tunnel that currently acts as a cycle track. In many places the route leads to open areas from where you can descend to the beach. Places where you can rent bikes in Levanto are marked on the map (1 day: from 10 euro, 40% reduction if you rent for a half day). The rental points are closed for lunch from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm.
