May 2022. You have to be in the mood for a climb and be wearing some flat, walking shoes but if you are, then the walk up to Doria Castle is a good way to spend some time in Portovenere. It's a steady climb but its quite manageable. We followed the path from San Pietro's Church, leading first to San Lorenzo Church and onwards, past two 16th.
