Paintings and drawings by Rudolf Bonnet are mostly represented in private collections and seldom in Museum collections. Museum Puri Lukisan in Ubud, Bali, owns two drawings. Rudolf Bonnet has collected many paintings, drawings and woodcarvings by Balinese artists, during his life in Bali (1929-1958).

From 1920 until 1928, Rudolf Bonnet lived in the small Italian town of Anticoli Corrado, less than 50 km east of Rome. The inhabitants of this small village in the Sabine Hills were hard-working, poor peasants. Bonnet adjusted to their elementary lifestyle, and was allowed to portray their harsh lives, their rituals, their melancholia.

The mission of the Foundation was to continue as much as possible the work and support Rudolf Bonnet gave to Balinese artists. During his stay on Bali Bonnet advised the painters of Batuan to bundle their activities in a cooperation.
