The mystery of the 1963 "5K" CA77 Dreams. I was recently contacted by a SoCal gentleman who was complaining about some oil leaks on his 1963 CA77 Dream. The serial numbers on this bike are CA78-311781 with engine number CA77E-316817. Whereas, virtually all 250-305cc Honda twins have serial numbers which are within 200 digits from each other.

1963 Honda Dream CA77 The first officially imported Hondas came to America in 1959 and included "dry sump" 250cc Dreams, the model CA76. By 1961 the 305cc wet sump model with electric starting, the CA77, had arrived and became popular almost instantly.

The Dream was available in red, white, blue and black, and often ran on whitewall tires. While numerous models accompanied the Honda Dream throughout the 1960s, including the CA 100 Honda 50, CB 92 Benly Super Sport 150, CB 77 Super Hawk and CL 77 Scrambler, the Dream that was the stylistic icon that launched all these other machines.

Starting with the bottom end, the transmission did receive a set of offset cotters to help improve gear dog engagement.
