Spilberk castle or Spielberg (in German) is old medieval castle which stands on a hill in the center of Brno city. Spilberk was built in 13th century by Czech king Premysl Otakar II. It was built in Gothic movement but it was rebuilt into huge Baroque fortress in 17th century.

There are several approaches to Špilberk Castle, all of which involve climbing quite a steep hill mainly through a large park with full-grown trees. The approach from Šilinger Square leads along Pellicova Street, named after the famous Italian poet who was imprisoned in Špilberk, to the southern edge of the park.
