At the suggestion of Grainger49, let's compile a list of tubes that can be rolled in the Crack. I'll update this list periodically as more tubes are tested, and have separated the list into drop-in replacements vs. tubes that might need the heaters rewired or some other modification. 27 Hi everyone, So I got a pretty good deal on a pair of refurbished HD 650 this week and picked them up for $280. I got them today, and love them, but I feel like my HiFiMAN EF2A is the weak part of my setup. It makes the 650 sound nice, but not even close to as good as I know the 650 are capable of (not to mention it's pretty noisy/hissy).

Welcome. I use a Crack w/Speedball and aftermarket tubes (Sylvania) with my HD650s and find it extremely enjoyable and non-fatiguing. Building the Crack was a fun project. Things sound better when you make it yourself 8^). You should use higher ohm headphones with the Crack.
