Szeged már évek óta tervezi a Belvárosi híd teljes rekonstrukcióját. Ennek egyelőre a legnagyobb akadálya, hogy a harmadik Tisza-híd a kormány ígéretei ellenére mindmáig nem készült el. Addig is maradnak a kisebb javítgatások és a dugók a Bertalan hídon.
