Castle Vaire-le-Grand castle. Boisot's castle. Men, since the Gallo-Roman era, occupied the place, near river Doubs. In the 11th century, the fief belonged to Gauthier de Vaire, then it fell to mighty lords of Chalon-Arlay. But soon, the Boisot family turned up.

Monument Nature Château de Vaire-Le-Grand Dès l'époque gallo-romaine, le site de Vaire-le-Grand est un point stratégique et un castrum se dresse sur la butte. Un château fort est construit au XIème siècle par le seigneur des lieux, Gauthier de Vare. On ne connaît que mal son aspect car il fut totalement détruit par Louis XI au XVème siècle.
