The Dakar draws inspiration from the iconic Paris-Dakar Rally, a grueling off-road race that pushed both man and machine to their limits. BMW, known for its engineering prowess, saw an opportunity to create a motorcycle that could conquer the toughest terrains while offering exceptional touring comfort. And so, the BMW Dakar was born.

Cornejo done for today. Nacho Cornejo has romped home in the fastest time so far. His 4′14″ in bonuses should be enough for the Chilean to take his seventh Dakar stage win. Ross Branch has also crossed the finish line, more than 12 minutes down on Cornejo. His own bonuses ought to keep the Botswanan in the overall lead.
