It lived most of its production life in the shadow of the 1993-2003 Honda CB 500 twin, which in all honesty was probably the better machine, but not vastly so. IMHO the ER-5 represents better value these days - a genuine "bargain basement" purchase. Better described as "dated" rather than "retro", its appearance conceals a certain ruggedness.

Yesterday I purchased a Kawasaki ER-500 C1 locally from a private seller. Condition is good for age, with reasonable service / MOT history and low mileage (20k). Price was decent, and as I sorely need a new bike for my daily work commuting I bought it. No issues on journey home, and started first time this morning and rode for a couple of miles.
