The Yaak Valley Forest is a beautiful tract of wilderness that is located in the northwestern corner of Montana in the United States. This stunning forested area covers approximately 191,000 acres of land which is home to a wide variety of wildlife species, including elk, grizzly bears, wolves, and lynx.

The Yaak River Scenic Drive is a twenty-nine mile, paved route that leads into the remote and seldom visited Yaak region of Montana. The route follows Highway 508, and runs between US Highway 2 and the tiny town of Yaak, Montana.

The Yaak Valley is a sparsely inhabited region with a tiny and scenic town known as the Yaak Village. Tributaries like Spread Creek, Burnt Creek, and Hellroaring Creek join the Yaak River within the Kootenai National Forest. From Yaak Falls, Yaak Falls is open for public access. The main recreational activities are fishing, floating, and camping.


The Yaak Valley In Montana Is Heaven On Earth

Yaak Valley was a significant mining region in northwestern Montana in the 1880s. There's an old bridge below the Yaak Falls that miners used to get to Sylvanite (a mining town) from Troy. Several other placer mining camps, such as 'Snipe Town', operated near the falls.

The ride through the Yaak Valley is spectacular in itself. The area is abound with wildlife and the brilliance of nature at its finest. The road follows much of the Yaak River and at one point, Yaak Falls, visitors may stop and see the forest's most popular waterfall.
