VERNAZZA. One of the most iconic villages in the world. Lovers from any part of the globe come to live the magical sunsets of this tiny hamlet and its romance. The history of this borough goes up to the year 1000, when "Vulnetja" was built by the population of Reggio, which hid-away on the coast in order to escape from Barbaric invasions.

A train ticket from Pisa to Vernazza is about 20€ roundtrip. If you're already in the Cinque Terre, getting from one village to the other is easy. Just go to the train station, buy a ticket there (1.90€) and hop in the train. It takes around 3 minutes to go from one village to the next.

The hike from Vernazza to Monterosso al Mare is a moderate 2.2 miles (about 3.5 km) along a very easy to follow trail. As it is part of the Cinque Terre National Park, to access the trail you will need a Cinque Terre Card. This costs €7.50 and you can get it and any Cinque Terre point in one of the villages or in La Spezia, or online here.
