Nonna Agnes's Blue Pole Bean AKA San Bernardo Blue Etsy

Nonna (Grandmother) Agnes Blue Bean is a very rare variety from Italy, These were founded by Joseph Simcox who traced the roots back to northern Italy to a town called Bernardo. Also sold by a big seed vendor one time and only offered for 1 year. These are best used as a dry bean, but can also be used as a shelling or snap bean.

Planting: For bush beans, plant the seeds about 1-1.5 inches deep, maybe 2 inches deep in the summer for a fall planting. The rows should be 2.5 to 3 feet apart. After the beans are up, thin the plants to 3 to 4 inches apart. For pole beans, plant 1 inch deep and 3 feet apart. Place a stake between each planted seed.
