Last night, in search of a quick bite to eat before meeting a pal for a drink at the Hospital Club, I wandered into The Rock & Sole Plaice fish 'n' chip cafe in Endell Street, Covent Garden. I ended up paying £22.55 for a small piece of haddock (which was OK), ghastly undercooked stodgy 'chips', a bottle of Diet Coke (an unbelievable £3!) and a small bowl of (nice) coleslaw (also £3).
